WACO, Texas (AP) — Baylor University says it has reached a settlement with two women who reported being gang-raped by football players.
In a joint statement issued with the lawyers for the women, Baylor interim President David Garland apologized and the school acknowledged it did not properly handle the students’ initial reports when they came forward in 2015.
The statement said the two women reported being sexually abused in 2012 by multiple players. One of the women also reported being physically assaulted by a football player in 2013.
Details of the attacks were not released, but Garland said the players and the school official who received the report of physical assault in 2013 are no longer at the university.
Settlement terms were not disclosed Wednesday.
