Banks Adds Second Freshman All-American Honor

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M outfielder Nick Banks was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Freshman All-America Second Team, the NCBWA announced on Monday.

It marks the second national accolade for Banks who was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America team by Collegiate Baseball newspaper last week. In addition, he was named All-SEC Second Team as well as the SEC All-Freshman squad. Banks and Florida’s Logan Shore were the only two freshmen to earn All-SEC status.

Banks led the Aggies with a .327 batting average on the year. Playing in 57 games, including 55 starts, he logged 29 runs, 10 doubles, two triples, two home runs, 26 RBI and seven stolen bases.

In 30 SEC contests, Banks ranked fourth in the league with a .360 batting average, going 41-for-14 with seven doubles, one triple, one home run, 15 runs and 16 RBI.

The Aggies posted a 36-26 record on the season and extended their school record string of consecutive seasons earning an NCAA Championship bid to eight seasons.
