Bank Robbery Suspect Commits Suicide

DALLAS (AP) _ Police say the man who killed himself after trying to rob a bank is the brother of an undercover Dallas officer and used his sibling’s service weapon to commit suicide.

The fatal shooting Monday came after police say Khalifa Tehran King, dressed in black and carrying a firearm, tried to enter a bank. Employees, suspicious of his behavior, locked the bank doors before he could enter.

King fled the scene and refused to pull over when police tried to make a traffic stop. Police say he eventually pulled into a business parking lot and appeared to surrender before shooting himself.

Bank employees told police the same man, armed and dressed in black, also tried to enter the bank Friday.

Police declined to identify King’s brother because he works undercover.
