The Bryan/College Station Salvation Army has announced last Saturday’s Red Kettle Mayor’s Challenge generated a combined $6,606.90.
That’s up from last year’s combined total of $4,894.00.
For the 12th straight year, the mayor of Bryan won the bell-ringing contest.
Contributions to Andrew Nelson’s kettle totaled $4,191.40.
The kettle manned by College Station mayor Karl Mooney collected $2,415.50.
More than 20 kettle locations in the twin cities will be in operation through December 24th.
Captain Paul Ryerson says volunteer bell ringing opportunities are still available.
