AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Austin police say a 19-year-old man speeding on a city street has been charged with manslaughter after the car veered out of control, striking and killing two women at a bus stop.
Erick Armando Nuncio-Moreno is charged with two counts of second-degree manslaughter and remains in the Travis County Jail with bond set at $100,000.
The arrest affidavit says Nuncio-Moreno pulled up to a stop light at South First Street and Stassney Lane about 7:30 a.m. Saturday and revved his engine. When the light turned green, Nuncio-Moreno sped away, lost control at a curve and slammed into the women waiting at a bus stop, killing them.
Police haven’t released the women’s names, but the affidavit says one was age 53 and the other was 53.
Online jail records did not list an attorney.
