The Oakland Athletics scored two runs in the first inning and never looked back en route to a 2-1 win over the Houston Astros Thursday afternoon.
Right-hander Lance McCullers was the hard-luck loser on the mound, surrendering two runs and striking out eight in seven innings work.
The loss snapped a six-game win streak for the ‘Stros, but they still lead Oakland by 4.5 games in the AL West.
They’ll look to start a new winning streak Friday night when they host the New York Yankees at 7:10 p.m. at Minute Maid Park.
Broadcast will be on Zone 1150 AM & 93.7 FM.
