Arts Council Of The Brazos Valley Settling In To Their New Home

The Arts Council of the Brazos Valley (ACBV) set aside September 27 through October 7 for moving to its new home along the freeway’s southbound service road between Barron and Fitch.

The property, originally a College Station fire station and most recently a Texas 4-H state office building, was purchased earlier this year as part of a $2.5 million dollar capital campaign…which has reached the $1.9 million mark.

ACBV board chairwoman Pam Smits says the new location gives them at least twice the room to accommodate the more than 60 arts and cultural organizations in their seven county service area.

Smits says the move, which followed four and a half months of renovation work, went better than expected.

Smits says a local moving company is donating services, and some artists moved their own pieces.
