A father tells a College Station policeman leaving his seven and nine year old children alone in Home Depot on a Sunday afternoon “would be akin to detention in school”. That’s part of the arrest report where the father was taken to jail on a charge of child abandonment. According to the arrest report, the officer learned the family were relatively recent converts to Judaism. The officer asked the mother of the children, who was not arrested, why she went along with her husband’s decision to leave the children in the store by themselves for an estimated 40 minutes. The wife, who said while some of her husband’s recent decisions had not been in the best interest of the family, it was her duty to support his decisions. 48 year old Andrew Ray Wilson of Grand Saline…east of Dallas…told the officer he left the children in order to keep an appointment at an equipment rental store about 15 miles away. After the policeman told Wilson he would never leave his children alone…much less out of town…Wilson said he was unconcerned. The officer charged Wilson intentionally exposed his children to an unreasonable risk of harm…since Home Depot has aisles of power equipment, bulky items including heavy bundles of tile, and large bags of pesticides and poisons. CSPD has not released what happened to the children after their father was arrested. Wilson is out of jail after posting bond.
A search of a home in west Bryan last Saturday resulted in police seizing illegal drugs with an estimated street value of $33,000 dollars, and $4,300 dollars in cash. The occupant, 34 year old Rufina Mendiola Jr. told police according to the arrest report more than ten pounds of marijuana, an undisclosed amount of THC oil, and the cash was his. Mendiola is out of jail after posting bond.
