A Stoneham man is in the Grimes County Jail accused of the Monday murder of a neighbor.
55 year old James Allen Bundage is held on a cash bond of $250,000, following his arrest for the shooting death of 56 year old Patrick David McHale.
According to the probable cause statement issued Tuesday, Bundage became enraged after McHale warned him to put his pit bulls up so they would not eat the rat poison he had placed around his barns.
Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell says the pair has a history of run-ins with each other over the past eight years.
Comments from Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell.
The sheriff also says Bundage was arrested in at least one of the prior incidents.
More from Don Sowell.
Two 9-1-1 calls from McHale brought deputies to his residence on County Road 359. The first call came shortly before 11 a.m. and the second shortly before noon.
Arriving the second time, deputies discovered McHale’s bleeding and unresponsive body near his kennels.
Sheriff Sowell tells Navasota News he expects the results of the initial autopsy in the next few days, which should establish the precise cause of McHale’s death.
