Before the Texas A&M system board of regents holds its round of business meetings, members were in College Station for committee meetings.
On April 16th, the regents facilities committee reviewed 16 projects where action could be taken at their second quarter business meeting in Kingsville that starts May 20th. Among those affecting the flagship campus, are restoring the exterior of the academic building, replacing turf at the Penberthy fields on west campus, building a virtual production stage facility next to the university’s research park, and expand one of the campus utility plants. Other proposed projects in Brazos County are a hangar project for the Bush Combat Development Complex at the RELLIS campus and at Easterwood Airport a new operating agreement and lease of the terminal building.
The facilities committee also received an update to the A&M system’s proposed five year capital plan. The list includes more than 544 million dollars of projects on the flagship campus.
On the five year list, is $220 million dollars for an engineering education and research complex, $135 million for a west campus vivarium…where live animals and plants are kept under conditions simulating their natural environment, $100 million for a variety of infrastructure improvements, $65 million for an entrepreneurship building, and $24.5 million to renovate the Evans Library second and sixth floors.
