Brazos County Commission Approves Development Plan For A New Mobile Home Park

Brazos County commissioners give the green light to developers wanting to build a manufactured housing community south of Millican. Commissioners without public comment at their November 26th meeting, unanimously approve the infrastructure development plan for 120 manufactured homes off the southbound Highway six frontage road south of the Westward Ho exit. The Paradise Way mobile home community, according to paperwork submitted to the county, is age restricted to those 55 and older. The development is located in Navasota ISD. Water service will come from the Wellborn special utility district and electric from Mid South co-op. A construction timeline for paved streets and infrastructure was not part of the documents given to commissioners. Brazos County Commissioners Hear About Last Friday’s Escape From The Juvenile Detention Center

Brazos County commissioners hear during Tuesday’s meeting (December 3) meeting about last Friday’s escape of a 16 year old who was captured Monday in College Station. Juvenile services director Linda Ricketson said details will be shared after the sheriff’s office completes its investigation. Ricketson said no one was injured, and she thanked law enforcement for their work. There were no comments from commissioners or from sheriff Wayne Dicky. The director told WTAW News that this was the first escape from the current juvenile detention facility. The last one was in the former center, taking place in the late 1980’s or early 1990’s. No information has been released on how 16 year old Ar’jzion Dovontay Dumon Robertson escaped last Friday (November 29) or if anyone was injured. Robertson, who was captured following a brief foot chase, was returned to the juvenile detention center after his arrest on an escape charge. Progress Being Made In Adopting Children In The B/CS Salvation Army Angel Tree Campaign

This year’s Bryan/College Station Salvation Army Angel Tree campaign is down to 100 children to be adopted. That is out of 2,300 area children who will receive gifts. Those who have adopted children are reminded to drop off gifts by Wednesday, December 11. Volunteers are being recruited to organize and distribute gifts. News release from the Bryan/College Station Salvation Army: With only nine days left for all Angel Tree gifts to be returned, The Salvation Army still has 100 angels yet to be adopted. There is still time to help! “We still have about 100 angel tags hanging on the Angel Trees and are praying all will be adopted and gifts returned by Wednesday, December 11,” said Captain Marianne Villanueva of The Salvation Army of Bryan/College Station. “We often see a late rush in adoptions and have staff and volunteers at the Angel Trees ready to help those who would like to take an angel and provide Christmas for a child in need.” All gifts purchased for angels, each representing a child from the community, should be returned to The Salvation Army Angel Tree locations by Wednesday, December 11- at Walmart, HEB, and Blue Baker. There is lots of work ahead for the staff and volunteers at The Salvation Army as they prepare for Angel Tree distribution day on Thursday, December 17-19, when local families representing 2,300 area children will collect their Christmas gifts. “Our community of donors, partners and volunteers is what keeps The Salvation Army Angel Tree program alive year after year,” said Villanueva. “Your kindness and generosity mean that every child registered on the Angel Tree program has a gift to open on Christmas morning, and parents don’t have to decide between paying bills or buying toys.
