Another Bryan Church Is Receiving A Historical Marker

For the second time in as many Sundays and the third time in four months, a state historical marker will be dedicated at the site of a Brazos County church.

Henry Mayo of the Brazos County Historical Commission says everyone is invited to the program at First Christian Church in Bryan…which was among those founded 150 years ago, following the civil war.

Last week a marker was dedicated to the 75th year of Santa Teresa Catholic Church.

Another marker was unveiled in late August on the original site of Rock Prairie Baptist Church…in front of Baylor Scott & White medical center.

Sunday’s program at First Christian starts at 1:30. The church is located on Ennis Street, across from Stephen F. Austin middle school.

Mayo says two more historical markers are in the works. One is for the former Leonard School, next to the Brazos County Expo Center. Another will recognize the Riverside community west of Bryan that was on land that became the Bryan air base and is now the home of the Texas A&M System’s RELLIS campus.
