Another A&M Football Player Drafted To NFL

CHICAGO — Texas A&M offensive lineman Jarvis Harrison was drafted in the fifth round of the NFL Draft by the New York Jets on Saturday.

Harrison, from Navasota, Texas, started four victorious bowl games during his career and finished his with 38 starts. The majority of Harrison’s starts came at offensive guard, although he started four games at left tackle (twice in 2013 and twice in 2014). Harrison and teammate Cedric Ogbuehi, who was selected No. 21 overall on Thursday, are the only Aggies in school history to earn starts in four bowl victories.

In 2014, Harrison missed the first two games of the season after a slow recovery from offseason surgery. He went on to see action in last 11 games of the year, including eight straight starts to end the season. He provided pass protection for the SEC’s top passing offense, which produced 3,971 passing yards and 39 touchdowns (both SEC highs).

During his time at Texas A&M, Harrison blocked for a Heisman Trophy winner (Johnny Manziel in 2012), helped the Aggies become the first team to surpass 7,000 yards in total offense in a season in SEC history (2013) and cleared the way for an offense that led the SEC in passing, scoring and total offense twice (2012 and 2013) and passing offense three times (2012-14).
