For the sixth consecutive season, the Texas A&M women’s basketball team captured one of the top four seeds and a first-round bye going into the 2010 Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Women’s Basketball Championship to be played March 8-9 and 11-12 in Kansas City’s Municipal Auditorium.
The Aggies claimed second place in the regular season standings, their best finish since earning the Big 12 regular season title in 2006-07. Baylor earned the No. 1 seed followed by No. 3 Oklahoma and No. 4 Kansas State.
Other seeds include 5. Iowa State, 6. Texas Tech, 7. Texas, 8. Kansas, 9. Colorado, 10. Missouri, 11. Oklahoma State and 12. Nebraska.
A&M will face the winner between No. 7 Texas and No. 10 Missouri in Big 12 quarterfinal action on Wednesday, March 9 at 5 p.m. (CT).
The Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship returns to Municipal Auditorium for the 10th time in Conference history. Kansas City hosted the first six women’s postseason events from 1997-2002, in addition to the 2005, 2008 and 2009 championships.
All-session tickets are $90 for lower-level seating and $72 for upper level. Single-session tickets are also on sale for $20 lower level and $15 upper level. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com, by calling 800-745-3000 or at the Municipal Auditorium Box Office.

First round games will be televised by Metro Sports in Kansas City while the quarterfinals through the final will be aired on FSN.
A new element to the Championship will feature semifinal teams matching wits in a trivia challenge Thursday, March 10 at 5:00 p.m. CT on the KC Live Stage in the Power & Light Entertainment District.
Trivia teams will include coaches, student-athletes and fans participating in “Full Court Pressure,” hosted by television analyst Debbie Antonelli.
