News release from Texas A&M:
COLORADO SPRINGS – Texas A&M head coach and three-time Olympic medalist Jamie Morrison was renamed as head coach of the United States U19 National Team ahead of the 2024 North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation Girls U19 Continental Championship held in Honduras July 12-20.
“It’s always an honor to represent the United States,” Morrison said. “Having the ability to give back to the next generation of great athletes while competing for the Red, White and Blue is truly special.”
Morrison enters his fourth-straight year as the head coach of the United States U19 National Team. In his most recent stint with the squad, Morrison led the USA to gold at the 2023 FIVB World Championships. The Red, White & Blue finished the campaign 9-0, including a 3-2 reverse sweep victory over Turkey in the tournament final.
His time with the USA Volleyball youth programs extends back another two years, as Morrison helped guide the U19 teams to another gold medal at the 2022 Pan American Cup and bronze at the 2021 FIVB World Championships.
Prior to his time with A&M, Morrison was part of three United States Olympic medal-winning squads, claiming gold with the men’s team in Beijing (2008), then silver and bronze with the women’s teams in London (2012) and Rio (2016), respectively.
“I’m always amazed at the amount of growth I see from our groups,” Morrison added. “We get to see them develop not only as volleyball players, but as human beings. I’m excited to get our team together and represent our country at the highest level.”
Morrison is joined on staff by a pair of assistant coaches, Keegan Cook (Minnesota) and Michelle Chatman (League One Volleyball). His staff is rounded out by performance analyst Margaret Eppright (League One Volleyball), team leader Kyle Thompson (Maryland) and athletic trainer Cherryl Bueno.
