A&M System Chancellor Releases Statements on Kyle Field Future

Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp met Monday with leaders of local governments regarding the future expansion of Kyle Field.

System spokesman Steve Moore says officials in Bryan, College Station, and Brazos County were asked to consider a $38 million dollar contribution to a project estimated to cost between $425 and $450 million dollars. Moore says seating at Kyle would grow to 103,500.

In a statement released by Moore, the chancellor said “We had a very productive discussion with the city and county leaders yesterday (Monday) concerning the future of Kyle Field.  There are a myriad of decisions to be considered. I am pleased we have begun the process.”

Sharp also released a statement through Moore acknowledging Tuesday’s release of a consultant’s report commissioned by the B/CS Chamber of Commerce and the Convention and Visitors Bureau.  According to Sharp, “I have not had the opportunity to review the report but look forward to assessing the estimates.  Kyle Field and Texas A&M football are very important to the students, faculty, staff, former students, and community.  It is important that all of us work together to continue their success.”
