Texas A&M special teams coordinator Brian Polian is expected to be named the new head coach at Nevada, according to a tweet by CBSSports.com’s Bruce Feldman.
Polian left his job as Stanford’s special teams coordinator to take the same role with the Aggies last spring. Polian is also known as an excellent recruiter, and took on the role of Stanford’s recruiting coordinator for the 2011 season. Texas A&M currently has the No. 8 recruiting class in the nation, according to Rivals.com.
If the deal is finalized, Polian would become the second A&M assistant to take a head coaching job in the last month. In December, offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury left after one season with the Aggies to become the head coach at Texas Tech, his alma mater.
