BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M rising sophomore Taylor Jernigan claimed recognition as the Women’s Premier Soccer League South Region Player of the Week.
Jernigan was recognized for a stellar performance for Classics Elite SA. She assisted on a goal and scored two more, including an 85th-minute game-winner in the Classics’ 3-2 road victory against Futbolera Select out of Houston. The victory put the San Antonio side on top of the Lone Star Conference standings.
The electric forward is wrecking the Lone Star Conference early in the season, notching five goals and one assist in three matches. She paces the conference in goals and points (11).
As a freshman with the Aggies, Jernigan appeared in 12 games as a freshman, racking up four goals. Her most impactful goal was an icebreaker in the Aggies’ epic SEC Tournament semifinal battle against Georgia.
Jernigan returns to action with Texas A&M Saturday, August 3 when the Maroon & White host the Rice Owls in an exhibition match at Ellis Field.
