A&M / Sam Houston Football Wrap Up

Ag’s looked a little sluggish but that’s to be expected coming off a huge win against Bama and playing a much smaller school in Sam Houston State. Once A&M got it in gear the juggernaut was again and putting up points to the tune of 47-0 just two possessions in to the second half. After completing an 89 TD pass Uzoma Nwachukwu Coach Sumlin felt comfortable enough to let Johnny Football kick…that’s right I said kick an extra point. After the missed Kick Manziel and the rest of the O and D came out of the game allowing the Bearcats back in a bit…with a final 47-28.

Johnny Manzeil broke the NCAA freshman quarterback rushing record, the freshman record for total offense. He also became the fifth player and first freshman in FBS history to pass for at least 3,000 yards with at least 1,000 yards rushing in a season. Couple that with Collin Klien of K-State losing and throwing three inception that  put’s the red shirt at the top of the Heisman watch lists.

With the win driving the A&M’s record to 9-2, Kevin Sumlin set  new debut season school record. Sumlin had been tied with R.C. Slocum (8-4 in 1989) and D.X. Bible (8-0 in 1917).

Next up the Ag’s the Tigers of Missouri at Kyle Field this Saturday at 6:00.
