A&M Regents Meet Friday For Two Reasons

A special meeting of the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents on Friday includes two action items.

In addition to finalizing the agreement for an A&M law school at Texas Wesleyan University, regents will consider giving President Bowen Loftin authority to hire a new athletic director. A&M spokesman Jason Cook says there will not be an announcement of an athletic director following the regents meeting and there is no comment on the specifics of the search.

Regarding the law school, once approved by the regents the proposal goes to the higher education coordinating board. Chancellor John Sharp says he doesn’t expect any political roadblocks.

John Sharp visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver.

Friday’s regents meeting starts at 2:00 p.m. with an executive session and will be conducted by conference call.
