A&M Prof Files Whistleblower Lawsuit

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ A whistle-blower lawsuit filed by a Texas A&M professor claims he was demoted after questioning the finances for construction of a medical building.

The lawsuit filed this week in Austin by Robert Hash names the A&M System and the A&M Health Science Center.

Hash in 2008 became vice dean of academic affairs and associate professor with tenure. The suit says Hash later learned that “certain high level employees/officers of the defendants and/or their family members had financial interests” in the medical building.

Hash in March lodged an ethics complaint. The lawsuit says Hash later was demoted to associate professor without tenure.

A&M attorney Andrew Strong says Hash had personality differences with other administrators. Strong declined further comment.

Hash’s tenure was restored in April.
