A&M Board of Regents Meet Thursday

$114 million dollars of building projects proposed for the A&M campus are part of Thursday’s agenda for the Board of Regents.

$78 million will go towards building the new pandemic influenza building in the biocorridor, slated to open two years from now. Then there’s $15 million to renovate Leonard Hall, continuing the overhaul of housing for members of the Corps of Cadets. Also proposed is a renovation of the Williams Building, an $11 million dollar project to put administrative leadership, including the President’s office, in one location. Regents will also consider spending $10 million to renovate Scoates Hall, creating space for the expanding engineering college.

Thursday is the first regents meeting since the Cotton Bowl. And their agenda includes a three page resolution honoring all the players by name. The resolution gives special recognition to head coach Kevin Sumlin, former offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, quarterback Johnny Manziel, offensive tackle Luke Joeckel, and defensive end Damontre Moore. And the regents business also includes giving A&M President Bowen Loftin the authority to give new contracts to Sumlin and nine assistant coaches.
