A&M and Texas Tribune Host Higher Ed Symposium

Leaders of higher education in Texas were on the A&M campus Thursday talking about what’s expected to happen in the next five to ten years.

Among the comments made by President Bowen Loftin, was giving all Aggies more tools to promote the flagship university.

Dr. Loftin and A&M System Chancellor John Sharp answered questions from Texas Tribune CEO and Editor in Chief Evan Smith.

Both men were asked where they wanted to be in five years. Loftin wants to achieve the Vision 2020 goal of being one of the top ten universities in the nation.

Sharp’s initial response was continuing to have the same job.

After the reaction from Smith and the lunchtime audience, Sharp said he wanted A&M researchers to generate one billion dollars.

Smith finished the session asking Sharp which bowl game he thought A&M would land. Sharp said the Capital One Bowl.
