Altuve Returns to Lead ‘Stros Past Mariners; Ohtani Lifts Angels Over Rangers

Jose Altuve had three hits and two RBIs in his return from COVID-19 protocol and the Houston Astros downed the Seattle Mariners Monday night, 5-2.

Yordan Alvarez and Yuli Gurriel both had three hits and drove in a run for the Stros, who host the M’s again Tuesday night at 7:10 at Minute Maid Park.

Angels two-way player Shohei Ohtani struck out nine over 5 innings to lead LA past Texas, 9-4.

Ohtani became the first home run leader since Babe Ruth in 1921 to start a game on the mound.

He’ll likely be in the lineup Tuesday when the Halos and Rangers go at it again at 7:05 p.m.
