Ags drop in poll; head to #2 KU

The Aggies loss to Baylor Saturday as expected knocked them down a few pegs in the AP and Coaches polls that came out yesterday. A&M dropped from 17th in both polls to 24th in the AP and 22nd in the coaches vote.

A&M goes from the frying pan to the fire for sure as tomorrow night they will be at #2 ranked Kansas as Mark Turgeon returns for a second time to his alma mater as the Aggie coach. In 2009, his Aggies lost 73-53.

The Longhorn meltdown continued last night as now their losing as reached the Erwin Center. Last night Kansas State beat Texas 75-70 at the Drum, the Longhorn’s second straight loss and third in two weeks. Yesterday they had already dropped from 5th to 7th in the AP poll and now they are a half-game behind Kansas in the standings. The loss could have cost them the top seed in the Big 12 Tournament.

There are two Big 12 games tonight as Oklahoma State hosts Baylor and Nebraska hosts Missouri.

Back to the rankings, Ohio State is the new No. 1 against after Duke fell to Virginia Tech last weekend. It’s the third straight week there’s been a new top team. The Buckeyes were No. 1 for four weeks earlier. BYU jumped from seventh to third behind Kansas. They’re followed by Duke and Pitt.
