Aggies Take Over Top Spot in CSCAA Div. I Poll

A strong fall season by the Texas A&M women’s swimming and diving team has pushed the Aggies to the top of the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division 1 Team Rankings.

The Aggies have already logged road victories over Southeastern Conference foes Vanderbilt and Missouri and a home victory over old rival Texas. Most recently, the Aggies shined with dozens of NCAA “A” and “B” cuts and two school records at the Art Adamson Invitational in College Station.

Guaranteeing their individual spots at the NCAA Championships with “A” cuts at the Adamson Invitational were seniors Cammile Adams, Breeja Larson and Paige Miller and junior Lili Ibanez. The Aggies’ foursome of senior Erica Dittmer, junior Sammie Bosma, Larson and Ibanez took down the school record in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:28.02) and Miller lowered her own school record in the 100 backstroke to 51.36.

The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division 1Team Rankings are voted on by nine CSCAA-member coaches and one media member. The rankings will be released on a regular basis throughout the 2013-14 season, alternating weeks between a men’s and women’s team ranking.

The CSCAA D1 Poll Committee will produce in-season rankings of the 25 best performing NCAA Division 1 Swimming and Diving teams in rank order at the time of each poll. The poll is not designed to predict the results of the NCAA Championship, but rather which teams would win head-to-head against other teams in the country. Ranking are based on performances that have taken place since the previous poll and include invites as well as dual meets.
