Aggies Tabbed No. 8 in Preseason Poll

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M Aggies were selected No. 8 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Preseason Ranking, the NSCAA announced on Tuesday.
 
Texas A&M polled second among SEC schools, one of four league teams in the preseason Top 25. They were joined by Florida (No. 7), Auburn (No. 12) and Ole Miss (No. 22). The Aggies are the top-ranked team from the Lone Star State, placing ahead of No. 19 Texas Tech.
 
Florida State was picked first, followed by defending national champion Penn State, Duke, Virginia and Stanford. The Aggies host No. 1 Florida State in the season opener at Ellis Field on Friday, August 19.

Texas A&M returns 18 letterwinners, including nine starters, from the 2015 campaign. The list of returnees includes 2015 All-America midfielder Mikaela Harvey and All-SEC Second Team forward Haley Pounds.

The Aggies finished the 2015 season ranked No. 9 in the NSCAA Coaches Poll. Texas A&M posted a 17-7-2 record for the year, advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinal for the fifth time in school history. The Aggies appeared in their 21st consecutive NCAA Division I Championship, advancing to the Second Round for the 18th consecutive year and the Sweet 16 for the 14th time in program history.
