TEXAS A&M QUOTES
Head Coach G Guerrieri
On tonight’s match…
“The weather was great. It was a pretty good crowd for a free exhibition game. Texas Southern came out and played hard. They were organized in the way that they defended. We scored some good goals. All in all, I was pretty pleased.”
On scoring the last goal as time expired…
“I like the fact that they want to score more goals. That wasn’t anything from us telling them to go after more. That’s their inner drive, to squeeze every second out of the game.”
On getting a lot of shots off tonight…
“We give them a green light. If they feel like they can score, the green light is on. You don’t win the lottery if you don’t buy a ticket. You have to take a chance. As the season goes on, we’ll play with more patience because we’ll have more reps together and we’ll be against other organized defenses.”
Texas A&M Junior MF/F Cienna Arrieta
On result of the game…
“It went perfectly, we been training for a long while now. More than I would say other teams have been training. Usually they start the first day of preseason doing fitness tests and we started the first day of preseason playing around. It played out exactly how we thought it would.”
On high number of goals …
“Gotta get the goals early in the season and get the confidence so later in bigger games I have the confidence to secure the goals. Inches matter.”
On shooting outside the box …
“Before we came out coach said take your shots when you can and so we were just taking shots when we say the opportunity and that gives us the opportunity to hit the shots later in the season.”
On all the substitution combinations …
“I think it is great to see that no matter who we put in, no matter if it’s second or third substitution we are going to get people who are just as good as people who started on the field. And that’s an excellent booster as a team to know that everyone is as good as the people starting.”
