Aggies Named to 2019 Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic Field

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M Aggies were named to the six-team field for the 2019 Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic, the Houston Astros announced Sunday evening.

The field for the 2019 Classic will include six Lone Star State programs. In addition to Texas A&M, the 19th annual tournament will feature Baylor, Houston, Rice, TCU and Texas State. The nine games will be played at Minute Maid Park, home of the 2017 World Series Champion Astros, from March 1-3, 2019.

The trip in 2019 will mark the Aggies’ 10th year playing the tournament. Texas A&M owns a 15-12 record in their nine previous trips to Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic. The Aggies’ best showing at the tournament came in 2015 when they went 3-0 with wins against Nebraska, Houston and Baylor during their SEC-record 24-0 start.

This season, the Aggies participated in the Frisco College Baseball Classic at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Texas A&M went 2-1 in their first season playing at the tournament.

Texas A&M returns to action Tuesday when the face the Northwestern State Demons in a 6:32 p.m. contest on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
