Aggies Hold On To Fifth Place At Seminole Match Up

Tallahassee, Fla.-The Texas A&M women’s golf team remained in fifth place as the second day of the Seminole Match Up came to a close Saturday.

The Aggies recorded a two-day score of 19 over par (296-299=595). Oklahoma jumped from sixth place to finish the day in first place with a two-day score of just six over par (298-284=582), followed by Florida State (+12), Georgia (+14) and Tennessee (+14). Furman (295-302=597) finished round two in seventh place with 21 over par for the tournament. Notre Dame (+23), UTSA (+32), Kansas (+40), Michigan (+40), UNCG (+48) and UNC Wilmington (+54) trailed successively.

The Aggies were once again led by senior Sarah Beth Davis (73-74=147) who shot just two over par for the day, bringing her two day total to three over par and placing her 13th individually. Junior Chelsea Mocio (76-72=148) was only one shot behind with a sum of four over par and finished the second round in a tie for 14th. Juniors Katerina Ruzickova (73-76=149) and Natalie Reeves (74-77=151) rounded out the A&M team score, tying for 16th and 20th, respectively. Senior Mary Michael Maggio withdrew from the tournament Saturday due to an injury.

“Chelsea played great today,” A&M head coach Trelle McCombs said. “She really kept her composure through the tough parts of the golf course. Going into the final tomorrow, my goals are to improve our position and keep working on being comfortable in contention.”

The third and final round of the competition will commence Sunday morning at 8 a.m. (CT). The Aggies are paired with Tennessee and Furman and will begin teeing off at 8 a.m. (CT). Live scoring for the event is available at GolfStat.com.
