Aggies to Face Ragin’ Cajuns in Non-Conference Tilt in 2017

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M University and the University of Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns announced today a non-conference football game scheduled for Sept. 16, 2017 in College Station at newly redeveloped Kyle Field.

“We open the 2017 season on the road in Pasadena, California, against UCLA (Sept. 2) and look forward to a great non-conference matchup against the University of Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns on Sept. 16 here at Kyle Field,” Aggie Director of Athletics Eric Hyman said.

The Aggies and the Ragin’ Cajuns last met on the gridiron in 2006 with Texas A&M coming away with a 51-7 victory. Texas A&M holds a 5-1 edge in the all-time series which dates back to 1990.

This year, Texas A&M will begin its third season in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The Aggies have posted at least nine wins in each season with head coach Kevin Sumlin at the helm. Texas A&M has won three straight bowl games. The Aggies are ranked No. 20 in the 2014 pre-season Amway Coaches Poll.

The Ragin’ Cajuns are the defending Sun Belt Conference champions and have also won three straight bowl games with three straight nine-win seasons. The Ragin Cajuns are a unanimous pick in the pre-season to repeat as Sun Belt Champions.
