WAIPAHU, Hawai’i – The Texas A&M Aggies started the season 2-0-0 for the fourth time in the last five years with a 3-0 victory over the Loyola Marymount Lions in Sunday’s Outrigger Soccer Kickoff action at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
The victory gave the Aggies the tournament crown, winning their two games by a combined tally of 7-0. The triumph extended Texas A&M’s unbeaten string to 17 matches, a school-record, besting a 16-match run in 2002.
Ally Watt tallied a pair of goals and Macie Kolb racked up the first tally of her career.
The defense was stout again for the Maroon & White as they recorded their second consecutive shutout. Texas A&M (2-0) held the Lions (0-1-1) to just three shots in the match, with their first two opponents only getting off two shots-on-goal. Cosette Morché made two saves to record her second clean sheet of the season.
For the second straight match, the Aggies had a dominant first half. The Maroon & White owned the large margins in shots (10-2), shots-on-goal (7-1) and corner kicks (7-1).
Things were tougher for the Maroon & White in the second stanza as they were playing into a strong wind. Texas A&M worked hard to get four shots, with the fourth sealing the game in the 82nd minute.
GOAL SUMMARY
28′ – Watt slipped through two defenders at the left corner of the penalty box and unleashed a missile inside the far post for her first goal of the season. A&M 1, LMU 0.
41′ – Ásdís Halldórsdóttir, from 35 yards out, drove a ball through the defense along the right inside channel. Kolb ran down the service inside the penalty box and sent a shot past the keeper on the left for her first career goal. A&M 2, LMU 0.
82′ – Kendall Ritchie sent a free kick into the penalty box from 40 yards out. The ball knocked around in a scrum before Watt was able to put her foot on the ball and sending it into the back of the net from 10 yards out for her second goal of the match. A&M 3, LMU 0.
UP NEXT
The Aggies open the home slate Friday when they host the BYU Cougars in a 7:30 p.m. contest at Ellis Field. It is the Fish Camp Game, annually one of the most attended collegiate soccer matches in the country.

It was a nice service from Ásdís (Halldórsdóttir) and Macie (Kolb) did a great job taking the shot in the one-on-one situation. It was tough sledding in the second half, playing into the wind, but we were able to make the best of a set piece. Any time Ally has the ball within 10 yards, she has a great chance of scoring.”
