Aggie Women’s Swimming & Diving Vaults to Top Spot in CSCAA Poll

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Texas A&M women’s swimming and diving team vaulted to the top spot in the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Div. I Team Ranking on the eve of the start of the Aggies’ fall invitational, the Art Adamson Invitational.

It’s the second time in program history that the Aggies have climbed to No. 1 in the CSCAA poll, which is not designed to predict the results of the NCAA Championship, but rather which teams would win head-to-head against other teams in the country. The Aggies were also ranked No. 1 in the Nov. 27, 2013 edition of the CSCAA poll.

Texas A&M is 4-0 in dual meet action so far in the 2014-15 season and are in the midst of a 17-dual meet unbeaten streak that dates back to the 2013-14 season. A&M’s last loss was a 158-141 decision to Auburn in College Station on Jan. 12, 2013. The only blemish over the past 17 dual meets was a 150-150 tie with Georgia on Jan. 10, 2014. Since joining the Southeastern Conference in 2012, the Aggies have compiled a 21-1-1 overall dual meet record.

The Aggies will get a chance to prove their No. 1 ranking this weekend at the Art Adamson Invitational, which is annually one of the fastest meets in college swimming. In addition to the Texas A&M men’s and women’s squads, teams competing this weekend are the men’s and women’s programs from SMU, LSU, TCU, Arizona State, Stanford and Grand Canyon and the Boise State women’s team. Teams from the CSCAA women’s poll at the Adamson are the Aggies, No. 3 Stanford, No. 21 LSU and No. 22 SMU.
