LANCASTER, Pa. – Texas A&M’s Reigning Individual National Champion Adela Cernousek is set to take part in the 79th U.S. Women’s Open May 30-June 2 at the Lancaster Country Club.
The WGCA All-America First Team selection tees off at 7:46 a.m. from No. 10 in the first round on Thursday. The U.S. Open will be broadcast on the Golf Channel and Peacock throughout the week. Cernousek shot a 12-under 276 at the 2024 NCAA Championships to win the championship, which was the lowest winning score since 2016 and claimed the individual national title by three strokes. Cernousek currently ranks No. 4 on the CLIPPD/Scoreboard Ranking for collegiate golfers and No. 15 on the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
The Antibes, France, native earned All-SEC First Team honors during the 2023-24 campaign and registered a program-record 69.94 stroke average, becoming the first Aggie women’s golfer to shoot below 71.00 for a year. Cernousek posted eight top-six finishes during the 2023-24 campaign, including her first collegiate win at NCAAs. She also set the record for par-or-better rounds in a season, carding 31 with 15 straight to end the year.
On May 14, the junior won the U.S. Women’s Open Qualifier in Pearland, Texas, to earn the opportunity to play in the prestigious tournament. She will also take part in the 2024 Arnold Palmer Cup (July 5-7), European Amateur Team Championship (July 9-13), Dana Open (July 18-21) and 124th U.S. Women’s Amateur (Aug. 5-11) this summer before her senior season begins.
