No. 5 Aggies Beat Northwestern State 75-42 On Elementary School Day

Jordan Jones posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists to lead No. 5 Texas A&M to a 75-42 win over Northwestern State on Wednesday afternoon in a women’s basketball game at Reed Arena.

The second annual Elementary School Game was a huge success, with 7,712 fans, and over 4,400 schoolchildren in attendance. This was the largest regular season non-conference crowd for women’s basketball and the seventh largest for any women’s game at Reed Arena.

The win pushed Texas A&M to 8-0 for just the second time in school history, and first time since 2008-09. The Aggies also extended their home winning streak to eight games, dating back to last season.

The Aggies rattled off a 22-5 run early in the first half to take a 40-21 lead into the break. After making the first basket of the second half, A&M never let Northwestern State (4-2) get any closer than 21 points for the rest of the game.

Jones had 15 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds, coming just three boards short of her second career triple double. During the game, Jones passed Sydney Carter for eighth on Texas A&M’s career assist list; Jones now has 394 in her career.

Courtney Walker scored 10 points, marking the 21st straight game with 10+ points. Walker has scored in double figures in all eight games this season.

The Aggies now take to the road for a two-game swing through the DFW Metroplex, starting at TCU on Sunday at 1 p.m. Coverage of that game is available on Fox Sports Southwest. The Aggies return home on Dec. 13 at 1:30 p.m. to host Houston.
