Aggie Volleyball Set to Face Stanford in Shriners Children’s ‘Showdown at the Net’ Volleyball Showcase

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

The Texas A&M volleyball team heads to the Sunshine State to headline the 2026 Shriners Children’s ‘Showdown at the Net’ ACC/SEC Challenge, ESPN announced Thursday. The Aggies take on Stanford Sept. 9 at the ESPN Wide World of Sport Complex, with first serve set for 8:30 p.m.

“We are excited about our matchup versus Stanford in the ACC/SEC Challenge,” head coach Jamie Morrison said. “I have a lot of respect for their program; they’re a great volleyball team and we’re looking forward to facing them on a big stage. Competing in marquee matchups like these on ESPN helps us continue to grow the game and our audience. We’re thrilled to be selected and can’t wait to get to Florida to play.”

The defending National Champion Aggies face the Cardinal at the State Farm Field House at Walt Disney World Resort in the second annual challenge between the SEC and ACC. Last year the ACC won the overall contests with a 9-7 record.

Stanford reached the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament last season, before bowing out in the Sweet 16 following a loss to Wisconsin. The programs have met six times in their history, and the Cardinal hold a strong advantage in the series, however the Aggies claimed the lone matchup played on a neutral court in 1995 in a 3-2 decision.
