COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M men’s basketball team will get a jump start on the 2015-16 campaign this summer when the squad embarks on a 10-tour of Italy and Greece in mid-August.
The trip will span from Aug. 13-23 and see the Aggies visit the Italian cities of Rome, Latina, Sorrento and Pompeii before concluding the voyage in Athens, Greece. Four games against local competition will highlight the trip as the team gets a head start on the 2015-16 campaign, which will tip-off in mid-November.
“We’re excited about this opportunity to take our team to Europe,” Texas A&M head coach Billy Kennedy said. “The trip will give us a chance to develop some team chemistry early. We will also get to see our newcomers on the court and get a head start for an exciting season.”
An added benefit of the foreign tour is practice time prior to departure and, with the team scheduled to report back to town prior to the trip to begin preparations, it will give Kennedy and his staff a great look at the entire team before the start of full-team preseason workouts in October.
On the hardwood, Texas A&M will be led into the new season by a trio of outstanding seniors in Alex Caruso, Danuel House and Jalen Jones, who all garnered All-SEC recognition from various media outlets after guiding the Aggies to a 21-win campaign last year.
Additionally, the Aggies will be reinforced by the arrival of a much-heralded recruiting class, which is regarded by many as the best in school history and is ranked as a consensus top-10 group by major recruiting services.
Fans will be able to follow the Aggies throughout the tour, which is coordinated by Anthony Travel, on 12thMan.com.
