Carlsbad, Calif. – The Texas A&M men’s golf team wrapped up its final event of the fall semester on Wednesday, completing an 11th-place showing at the Gifford Collegiate.
“It’s a disappointing way to end the fall but I saw a lot of good things out of this team before the last two days and I still think we have the makings of a strong squad,” Texas A&M head coach J.T. Higgins said. “There is a lot to work on but we will be ready when the spring rolls around.”
The Aggies (292-299-296=887, +35) finished their third turn on La Costa Legends Course at 12-over par Wednesday morning while Washington (285-275-286=846, -6) turned in a round of two-over to wrap up the team title.
Senior Adria Arnaus (75-72-71=218, +5) carded A&M’s lowest round of the day, shooting an even-par 71 to finish in a tie for 20th place on the individual leaderboard. Classmate Ben Crancer (72-75-76=223, +10), meanwhile, ended play with a share of 41st place while sophomore Connor Black (71-81-74=226, +13) was three shots back of Crancer in 56th.
Stanford’s Maverick McNealy shared medalist honors with Chris Babcock and Corey Pereira of Washington at four-under par.
Sophomore Andrew Paysse (78-76-75=229, +16) and freshman Chandler Phillips(74-76-81=31, +18) rounded out the Aggie lineup at the event in ties for 66th and 71st place, respectively.
Following the winter break, the Texas A&M men’s golf team will return to competition Feb. 1-2 at the Sea Best Invitational, which will take place on iconic TPC at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
