Friday’s series opener marks the 27th meeting all-time between the programs with the Aggies (17-3) holding a 16-10 record over the Bulldogs (18-4). In 12 prior matchups at Blue Bell Park, Texas A&M has topped Georgia in 10 games. The clubs met last year in Athens to conclude SEC play. After falling in the series opener, the Aggies shut out the Bulldogs behind a complete game from Justin Lamkin. Georgia claimed the rubber match on Sunday to secure the series win.
The Maroon & White send the rotation of Shane Sdao, Weston Moss and Aiden Sims to the bump for the weekend. The trio has been dominant in the strike zone this season, combining for 79 strikeouts and a 1.12 WHIP on the year.
The Aggies topped Texas State in midweek action by a 9-6 decision. Caden Sorrell powered the offense with two home runs and four RBI. The junior outfielder has logged a team-best three multi-homer games and 10 multi-RBI performances on the year.
Offensively, Texas A&M boasts the eighth-best on-base percentage (.459) and ninth-best slugging percentage (.583) in the country. The Aggie bats rank inside the top 25 national ranks nationally in batting average (.326), home runs (39), runs scored (197) and walks (126).
On the mound, the Maroon & White’s ranks second in the country in walks allowed per nine innings (2.31), third in the country in K/BB ratio (3.95). The Aggie pitching staff’s 1.17 WHIP is the 17th-best nationally.
