COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M Baseball team was ranked No. 24 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Preseason Top 35′ Poll released on Monday.
The ranking matches the Aggies’ highest ranking in the four major college baseball polls that have been released prior to the first pitch of the 2013 season. A&M was also ranked No. 24 in the USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll which came out last week. The Aggies were selected No. 26 in the Collegiate Baseball Top 40 ranking and were unranked in the Baseball America Preseason Top 25 poll.
Arkansas was picked as the preseason favorite by the NCBWA followed by North Carolina, LSU, Vanderbilt and UCLA in the top five. The Aggies were one of nine SEC teams ranked in the Top 25 along with Arkansas, LSU, Vanderbilt, South Carolina (No. 6), Kentucky (No. 12), Florida (No. 15), Mississippi State (No. 16) and Ole Miss (No. 25).

Texas A&M, which returns 17 letterwinners, finished the 2012 season ranked No. 19 following a 43-18 campaign. The Maroon and White will play their first season in the SEC after finishing second in the Big 12 with a 16-8 record last year. The Aggies begin the 2013 against Illinois-Chicago at Blue Bell Park on Feb. 15-17.
