Additional information from the Brazos County sheriff’s office:
On April 24th at approximately 3:15 p.m., Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a home in the 2800 block of Smetana, where the resident had called 9-1-1 with a report that he returned home to discover his house was being burglarized.
Deputies responded code (lights and sirens), to the location.
Two Constable Units were in the vicinity of the residence as the suspects fled from the house, and were able to follow them northwest on Smetana Road to its terminus with Fountain Switch, at which point they continued left.
The suspects continued on Fountain Switch until its intersection with OSR, where they turned right and subsequently lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the fence on the east side of the roadway.
At which time they fled, but two of the suspects were captured by Sheriff’s Deputies almost immediately after the crash, and within twelve, and seventeen minutes, of the initial call to 9-1-1.
The search for the third suspect was initiated immediately and concluded at 5:37 p.m., in the vicinity of 5900 OSR, when he was spotted by Deputies and taken into custody.
The search for the third suspect was conducted with the assistance of the Bryan Police Department (Motors Unit and K9), the Texas Department of Public Safety (Troopers and DPS Helicopter), Blinn Police Department, and Constable’s Deputies from Precincts 2, 3 and 4.
The investigation continues, as Deputies work to determine what items were removed from the house.
Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Two of the suspects, Acosta, Hector J, 08/18/1996 and Prado, Jonathan W, 02/21/1999, were booked into the Brazos County Detention Center, and one, a juvenile, was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center
Sheriff Chris Kirk reported the third suspect was captured shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Original story:
Two suspects are in custody and a third is being sought in a home burglary north of the RELLIS campus.
Brazos County sheriff Chris Kirk says a neighbor reported the break-in, located in the Smetana area.
The sheriff says D-P-S brought in a plane, Bryan police deployed drones, and dogs were assisting on the ground.
Kirk says reverse 9-1-1 calls were made to area residents and they have received assistance from other agencies.
The sheriff says firearms that were taken from the home have not been recovered.
Kirk says two suspects were arrested following a chase and their vehicle was found.
Kirk says the search should not impact motorists on Highways 21, 47, and 50.
