A College Station man arrested but not indicted on a charge of injuring a child won his attempt to have his bond lowered. 23 year old Blair Thomas spent five days in jail in lieu of a $75,000 dollar bond before he was released after bond was reduced to $9,000 dollars. According to the arrest report from College Station police, Thomas was a caregiver for a disabled person under the age of 14. According to the victim’s mother, the child is five years old. Thomas was seen on surveillance video intentionally stepping on the victim’s calf. Thomas told an officer he would never intentionally harm the victim, but he lost his temper and was too rough with the victim. Thomas also told the officer he was not trained to provide proper care for the victim, who was not interviewed because of his developmental delays and verbal skills. According to the victim’s mother, the case has not been presented to a grand jury.

A Bryan man is going to prison for the fourth time. That’s after a Brazos County district court jury convicted 47 year old Tommie Houston III of assaulting a Bryan police officer last May. According to the district attorney’s office, Houston struck an officer at least four times and reached for the officer’s Taser. This was after the officer was sent to remove Houston from an apartment. Prosecutors say the judge sentenced Houston to 25 years based on a criminal history that included going to prison for burglary of a home and selling drugs.
