Tuesday update from the Bryan police Twitter account:
Suspicious object under bridge yesterday found not to have any explosive materials.
Monday 6 p.m. update:
Bryan police responding to a report of cell phones being stolen wound up discovering a suspicious looking piece of pipe.
And officer Kelley McKethan says the pipe, under the bridge at Highway 47 and Villa Maria, affected traffic for more than two hours Monday afternoon.
The College Station police bomb squad neutralized and recovered the device for further inspection.
Villa Maria was blocked while motorists on Highway 47 were moved to the feeder roads between 2:30 and 5.
Investigators believe there is no connection between the pipe and the cell phone thefts.

5 p.m. update from Bryan police:
Roadway is now open. Device was a pipe that looked suspicious. The CSPD bomb squad neutralized the device.

At this time Highway 47 and Villa Maria are closed.
All traffic on Highway 47 is being diverted to the feeder roads.
No traffic can pass over or under the overpass.
A suspicious object has been located under the bridge which is being treated as a potential explosive device.
The College Station bomb squad has been requested to assist in the identification and removal of the object.
