Tickets are still available for next Tuesday’s Better Business Bureau’s Torch Awards luncheon, recognizing local businesses for superior ethics.

The featured speaker is Dallas communications consultant Merrie Spaeth, whose relationship with the BBB goes back to her days working in the Reagan Administration at the Federal Trade Commission and later as the White House director of media relations.

At Tuesday’s luncheon, Spaeth is going to examine what makes people remember some things and not others, and why that is important.

For nearly 30 years, Spaeth has worked with thousands of clients. Many are conservative politicians. And she knows many of the candidates seeking the Republican nomination for president. She is particularly impressed with Ted Cruz and she hopes Ben Carson and Carly Fiorini stay in the race.

As for Rick Perry, who dropped out last week, Spaeth says he will be back.
