LaSalle Hotel Update Given to Bryan City Council

A new operator and new renovations have combined to generate more business at downtown Bryan’s LaSalle Hotel.

The City of Bryan has owned the boutique hotel since 1999. Deputy City Manager Joey Dunn says a recent city council review of the management company that took over the LaSalle a year ago has exceeded the council’s revenue requirements.

The reason, in part, was $625,000 in renovations that were completed last March.

Dunn says the management firm is exceeding original goals and there are incentives in place once there’s enough revenue to cover not only operational expenses but also pay for the original loan the city took out to buy the LaSalle in 1999.

Dunn says the occupancy rate over the last three months is just over 40 percent. The challenge for the management company that took over a year ago is to increase weekday traffic.
