First responders from around Brazos County paused Friday morning to remember slain Harris County deputy sheriff Darren Goforth.
Law enforcement statewide paused at 11 a.m., the start of Goforth’s funeral, to activate their emergency lights as a show of support.
Participants included the College Station, Bryan, and Texas A&M University Police Departments and the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office.
Additionally, members of the sheriff’s office launched blue balloons outside the jail. Sheriff Chris Kirk offered comments before the launch and delivered a prayer afterwards.
And Brazos County’s central dispatch requested radio silence for non-emergency calls during the one minute the emergency lights were activated.
