Texas Gas Prices Up Five Cents

IRVING, Texas (AP) _ Retail gasoline prices have increased across Texas and the nation.

The weekly AAA Texas price survey released Thursday shows that a gallon of unleaded regular averaged $2.57 per gallon across Texas and $2.73 nationally, a nickel more than last week.

The cheapest gasoline is found in San Antonio, where the average price of unleaded regular was $2.52 per gallon, 5 cents more than last week. Amarillo had the most expensive gas at $2.72 per gallon, up 4 cents in a week.

The auto club statement attributes the price jump to the shutdown of two pipelines in the Midwest.

One of the pipelines, which carries crude oil from Canada to U.S. refineries in the Midwest, was closed last Thursday. The other shut down in July and awaits safety approval to restart.
