Brazos County District Attorney’s Office Adds A Murder Charge In The Shooting Death Of A Bryan Woman
The Brazos County district attorney’s office announces adding a murder charge in the shooting death of a Bryan woman on Monday night (August 5). Jail records also show 22 year old Dequajna Johnson remains charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. As previously reported, 22 year old Keianna Hines of Bryan was killed during what bystanders told Bryan police was an ongoing dispute with Johnson about the same ex-boyfriend. According to a new BPD arrest report, Johnson was in a stopped car when she shot 22 year old Keianna Hines of Bryan. Johnson told detectives she pulled a gun out of her purse when Hines opened the car door because “she only wanted to make Keianna back up so she could shut the car door.” The arrest report said Johnson “extended her right arm out as if she was shooting a firearm but turned her head away from where she would be pointing the firearm.” Johnson said “she thought the gun was on safety” but “the gun went off” and that she “was not aware that she even hit her”. Johnson remains jailed in lieu of a $250,000 dollar bond on the murder charge, a $200,000 dollar bond for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and a $100,000 dollar bond on an unrelated aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge where she is awaiting trial for threatening a man with a gun at a College Station apartment pool in June 2023. Original story, August 7, 2024: An ongoing dispute between two Bryan women about the same ex-boyfriend resulted in gunfire Monday night (August 5) that killed one of the women and put the other woman in jail. That’s according to the Bryan police arrest report of 22 year old Dequajna Johnson on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the death of 22 year old Keianna Hines. The arrest report also said there was police involvement in what was only described as a previous incident between the two women on June 24th. Johnson, who is jailed in lieu of a $200,000 dollar bond, is awaiting trial on a charge of threatening a man with a gun at a College Station apartment pool in June of 2023. Bond in the 2023 case has been increased to $100,000 dollars following a request by the district attorney’s office. Johnson is also accused of violating probation related to a misdemeanor theft that took place in December 2019.
Texas A&M System Board Of Regents Approves Moving Up To This Year, A Flagship Campus Renovation Project
The Texas A&M system board of regents is told that “teaching laboratory space likely represents the most significant bottleneck for teaching undergraduate life science majors.” That was part of the reason the regents at their August 1st meeting, approved a $12 million dollar renovation of the fourth floor of A&M’s Heldenfels building to start in September 2024 instead of 2025. A&M associate vice president for facilities Les Williams says the labs, which will be used by the biology, biomedical sciences, and nutrition programs, will be completed in the summer of 2026.
