Southbound Freeway Motorists Being Warned Now of SW Parkway Exit Closing Next Week

From the TxDOT Bryan district office:

The Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) contractor will begin reconstruction of the next set of ramps on SH 6 (North Earl Rudder Freeway) next Tuesday, July 28th.

The southbound ramps between SH 30 (Harvey Road) and Southwest Parkway will be closed along with one-lane of the west frontage road from Post Oak Mall to Grand Station Entertainment. These ramp and frontage road closures are expected to last until the beginning of November.

Completion of the new southbound entrance and exit ramps currently under construction between FM 1179 (Briarcrest Drive) and FM 60 (University Drive) is expected to be complete by the middle of August. Completion of this work may require outside lane closures on the main lanes of SH 6. However, these closures will be scheduled to avoid peak traffic hours and minimize congestion.

Overlapping the construction of these two separate sets of southbound ramps will accelerate this project completion and help make up time lost during the unusually wet Spring the area experienced this year. In addition, it will improve traffic flow in this highly traveled retail corridor prior to the beginning of the holiday shopping season.

Drivers should be alert to the additional signage for the ramp and lane closures as well as the reduced 60 mph speed zone on the main lanes of SH 6 in the construction areas.
