Friday Morning Crashes North and South of B/CS

A train hit a semi hauling an empty cattle trailer south of Mumford Friday morning. DPS Trooper Justin Stohler said the driver was lost and was trying to turn around when the trailer got stuck on the tracks. The driver got out when he heard the train approaching. Union Pacific spokesman Jeff Degraff says as the conductor was leaving the locomotive, they suffered a small and minor burn that required medical attention. Train traffic resumed around 2:30 this afternoon, more than five hours after the incident. The wreck was north of Highway 21 off FM 50.

That followed two crashes in the area of the Highway 6 exit at Peach Creek Road. Brazos County sheriff’s Lt. John Pollock says the first wreck was on the bridge over Highway 6. A short time later, two vehicles collided on the northbound feeder road. There were injuries in both incidents, but none are believed to be life threatening.
